December favourites: A Very Merry Christmas Edition

So for the last blog post of the year of 2013 I figured it was fitting to do a favourites. I am going to be honest, this is an amalgamation of "what I got for Christmas" and my favourites. So yeah, let's begin!!!!

Body and fragrance!!!!!!
This cream here is awesome. I have the body wash as well and it's great because I struggle with falling asleep and I have found that the aromatherapy quality of this has been helping me relax which has in turn made it easier to fall asleep. I really love lavender and chamomile as scents too, so it is just perfect!
I might have mentioned this before but I really love Hot Couture by Givenchy. I am a bit of a perfume lover so when someone gives me a scent I usually become a bit picky but this is one of my classics! I also really love the bag that the lotion and perfume came in. If you like fruity and floral and want to go for a more sophisticated feel, I highly recommend this.
Clothes!!!!!!!
So my mum bought me this for Christmas and I really love it! I wanna be royal and this makes me feel like it. And yes that was a Popular music reference.
Beauty!!!!!!!!!
So I really needed make up brushes and this was exactly whati needed. I really like the fact that it comes with a case and that it is travel size, which suits me because I want to travel. I also really like the studded detailing on the bag which adds that certain "punk princess" glam which I like.
Food!!!!!!
This chocolate bar was a Christmas gift from my boss and it is delicious. It is a 50% cacao dark chocolate bar with chunks of peppermint sprinkled in it. I have a deeprooted love of mint chocolate ever since birth, so when something comes along like this I can't help but consume.
As always a caffe latte from good old Starbucks. Don't you just love the winter packaging!
Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On my iPhone I have my playlists organized by season. So in my winter playlist here a couple of the songs I listen to!
"The a Team" by Ed Sheeran (http://youtu.be/UAWcs5H-qgQ)
"Je suis malade" by Lara Fabian (http://youtu.be/dVvlmpo5g9k)
"Put the Gun Down" by ZZ Ward  (http://youtu.be/5chkHjTNFgk)
"Til the Casket Drops" by ZZ Ward (http://youtu.be/fXtNS1shJFk)
"Come Back Down" by Danny Fernandes (http://youtu.be/ByyogpFT08s)
"Heartless(swing house session)" by The Fray (http://youtu.be/HgnFKNvmV7o)
"Oblivion" by Bastille (http://youtu.be/vlcDX77rzPM)
"Love Don't Die"  by The Fray (http://youtu.be/WptxUWvrINQ)
"Counting Stars" by OneRepublic (http://youtu.be/hT_nvWreIhg)

Anyways I hoped you all had a great holiday season and have a great new year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!! Today is going to be short but I just wanted to share a little of what has been going on in my life!

1) Work. I have been spending a lot of my time at work.
2) Watching Anthony Bourdoin on reruns. I freaking love him. If it wasn't for the fact that I live and breathe fiction, I am not a dude, and I don't have the ability to drink myself under the table I would love to have his job. He is one of my literary and tv heroes.
3) Catching up on blogs I haven't read. I am a huge fan of travel and food so if you see me I am usually engaging in food porn and accurate photo diaries of exquisite travel destinations.
4) Hitting up every chain coffee/tea store in Winnipeg. I have had had no time for sleep so I NEED the coffee and tea.
5)Spending  time with family.
6)Trying (and struggling) to find blog ideas.

Anyways love you guys and Merry Christmas!!!

The Christmas Tag

Hello guys! I know it's been a while since I last posted and I want to really apologize for that. Today I figured I would give you guys a little it of a treat and do the Christmas Tag. I challenge you guys to answer the same questions. This tag can also be used for other holidays like Chanukah or Kwanza as well. Well without further ado lets get started!!

1.Whats Your Favourite Holiday Movie? Well my favourite movie for just winter in general would be The Holiday which has Jack Black, Jude Law, Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet.
2. Whats Your Favourite Christmas Colour? I really like the way my family sets up the Christmas tree with golds and rich reds, so I would probably say I prefer the red.
3. Do You Like To Stay in Your PJs Or Dress Up For Christmas? Oh man... Well on Christmas morning I stay in my pyjamas, but when I actually have to go outside I wear actual clothing.
4. If You Could Only Buy One Person a Present This Year Who Would It be? My local humane society because me and my family do it every year.
5. Do You Open Your Present Christmas Eve Or Christmas Morning? Definetely Christmas morning.
6. Have You Ever Built a Ginger Bread House? Yes I have. Although as a kid you just want to eat everything. I would like to do it again now that I am older.
7. What Do You Like To Do On Your Christmas Break? Well usually I try to sleep well and chill at home but this year I am working seasonally so maybe a little less chill-axing then I am used to but I will survive.
8. Any Christmas Wishes? That someone brings Nanaimo bars to at least one Christmas party I am going to.

10. Favourite Christmas Meal Or Treat? Nanaimo bars!!!! They are so good and only seem to be popular around Christmas.

16. What's the weirdest gift you've ever received? My friend once bought me a veggie platter for Christmas. S, my best friend, thought it would be hilarious to tell the other friend that this was a good idea. I appreciated it because I like vegetables, but my parents found it a little odd.
17.Have you ever made a snowman? I live in Winterpeg, Manisnowba. Of course I have made snowmen. Pshhh, I have made snow armies.
18.What is your favourite winter fragrance? I have been using this really nice aroma thearapy bath gel from Bath and Body works that helps you sleep. It smells like lavender and chamomile which is extremely cozy and calming.
19.What is at the top of your list this Christmas? New earphones, because my other ones are beginning to die and they always find it necessary to electrocute me.
20.What is most important to you about the holidays? Family and the time spent with them.

Hopefully you guys liked this post and I will talk to you guys later.

Favourite Things of the Month: The Snovember Edition

Believe it or not guys we are coming up on the craziest couple of days. Chanukah has started, Christmas is almost here and New Years is right around the corner! So has a pre-holiday party I am going to discuss my favourites of the month!

Music!
As previously said in a previous blog post, I have been really loving acoustic music! So here we go!
-One Direction's "Story of My Life", (click here: http://youtu.be/W-TE_Ys4iwM)
I really like this song because of the way the background music matches the boys' voices. It might also be the fact that I have a huge crush on Liam. Anyways check it out!
- Daniela Andrade's cover of Landon Pigg's "Falling in Love in a Coffee Shop", (click here: http://youtu.be/JZcJRw5Gs88)
Alright so there are many reasons why this song is one of my favourite this month. 1) it is really good, 2) Michelle Phan introduced me to Daniela, 3) This song really helps me write the novel that I am trying to write and 4) Daniela is Canadian!!!!
- A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera's "Say Something", (click here: http://youtu.be/-2U0Ivkn2Ds)
I really like this song. The lyrics are incredibly sad and so is the video, however the harmonies and the piano just make me extremely relaxed. If anything it gets better with the more you listen to it.
-Sean Quigley's cover of "Little Drummer Boy", (click here: http://youtu.be/IrNcD34KFhM)
Now this video went viral about 2 years ago, however, my Manitoban pride must show and it is extremely prominent whenever I listen to this song. Sean Quigley actually did this video for a school project but he shot, sang and played the drums himself. What I really like about this video is the fact that it displays Winnipeg really well! This is my city and the way he shot it was beautiful!
-Yiruma's "Blind Film" (click here: http://youtu.be/aW1nemadA7o)
This video has beautiful cinematography of Paris (I believe so at least... I have never been....) and the piano sounds gorgeous. Warning this is instrumental so if you are not a big fan watch anyways because it is great.

Beauty! Make up! Fragrance!
Winter is an extremely drying season and with that a lot of the colours and products I use change.
-Neutrogena Naturals multi vitamin Nourishing night cream. I really like this because it is extremely moisturizing and keeps my skin clear.
-Hot Couture by Givenchy. Oh my gosh I love this scent so much! It combines notes of: Raspberry Dew, Jasmine, Bergamot, and White Musk, to create my favourite scent!
-Lancôme eyeshadow in "drape". This works really well has a brow bone high lighter.
-Estée Lauder eyeshadow in number 47 "honey drop". Really nice if you want a neutral colour to be a base colour for warmer browns.
-Batiste dry shampoo in "coconut and exotic tropical". I have been straightening my hair a lot lately and this dry shampoo allows me to not mpwash my hair for an extra day so I don't damage my hair with constant straightening
-Urban Decay's Naked 2 Pallette. I just love this pallette.

Fashion!
I really like sweaters and flannel pyjamas just to make sure I am nice and cozy!

Books!
School doesn't always leave me with a lot of time to what I love so when I get to sit down and read a book I am extremely happy!
- "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgernstern. This book is one of my favourite fiction pieces of all time and I think that might have to be the fact that it combines two things that I love: a) circuses and b) magic. I highly recommend this book.
- "Notes from a Small Island" by Bill Bryson. Bill Bryson is hilarious. Some of the things he gets up to in everyone of his adventures is hilarious. In this adventure he has gone to England. Some side information though, Bill Bryson is American but he is probably the most converted British person I have ever heard about.

Yeah so that concludes my post for today if you have any other post ideas or things for me to review just drop me a line in the comments below or on the social media pages! BYE!

Winter: A review on a season

As you might know I live in a really cold climate. And with cold weather, comes this disgusting thing called winter. Now don't get me wrong, there are aspects of winter that I like but their are also things that I really hate. So here is a review on the coldest season of the year. For all of you who live in warm climates, just know, winter isn't always pleasant...

Things I like about winter:
- I get to go ice skating. Being Canadian, I think it is almost mandatory to have strapped on a pair of skates at least once. I can say this honestly because every time I go ice skating, kids and some adults are learning how to skate. Call it a right of passage into becoming a true Canadian.
- Hockey season. I think this takes a lot of people off guard when I say I like hockey. I think it is mostly because I look really calm and bookish. However, you put a hockey game on the TV and I scream for that goalie to catch the damn puck or for the offence to pass the bloody thing before it ices. Yup I like hockey.
- Hot drinks. Alright, so I understand that you can drink these all year round and I do drink them all year round, but I feel as though there is less judgement if you are drinking it when it is cold outside versus drinking them in 20 degree plus weather (in Celsius because that's how I roll).
- Sweaters. Sweaters just feel as though you are always wrapped in a blanket.
- I am not expected to go as many places. I think it is a generally expected rule in the winter months that if you are cold you have a genuine excuse of staying home, and you won't be judged.
- Christmas. I often consider myself a Scrooge due to the fact that Christmas starts just after Halloween. However, I have a guilty pleasure... I love Christmas decorations and Christmas baking. I would be lying if I said that the whole atmosphere of Christmas did not make me a bit happy.

What I don't like about winter:
- Snow. The thing is, where I live, it just stays around too long. We get it in November, sometimes middle of October, and it doesn't leave, if we are lucky, until March. And by the time February rolls around the snow is no longer pretty, but brown and yellow from mud and all the dogs.
- Ice. It must be noted that I am not taking about ice rinks, I am talking about sidewalks, stairs, etc. It can be really dangerous and I know that I have had my fair share of wipe outs.
- Driving. Winter driving is the worst time to drive. People become idiots when snow falls and continue to be idiots until it is gone. It also sucks because of black ice. Black ice for all that don't know is ice that forms on roads but cannot be seen very well due to the fact it blends into the asphalt.
- The cold. In the northern hemisphere were are all aware of this little thing called windchill. Now the temperature outside might not be extremely cold but if you add a windchill say good bye to your fingers.
- Christmas music. I like Christmas music, I do, however as previously stated it starts after Halloween. Now that means for about 2 months all you hear in the malls or on the radio is the same songs on repeat. Now here is the amount of times I have heard jingle bells since November 1st: 20. Now, by the end of the holiday season I will have heard the original and all other variations over 100 times...  It makes me go a little stir crazy.

So guys I really hope you liked this post. And as always drop me a line down in the comments or on the social media pages (The social media pages are in much need of some love and affection). If you liked this post please share on Facebook, Google+, twitter or even Instagram. Also if you have any future ideas for posts or something you would like me to review just drop me a line.
Alright, I love you guys and I will talk to you next week! BYE!!!!

Home Alone: life update and a mini heart-to-heart

Okay so I know I posted yesterday but I am really bored and really dont feel like doing my English essay right now. So let's do this!!!

1) I have to write an essay. Which let me clarify, I usually don't mind but its not my fault that I can't stop watching other people's lives on youtube. They just seem more interesting. I am told I am weird for liking to write essays. I just findd them a whole lot more interesting then doing Pre-calculus
2) I just heard a F******* mouse and I am terrified!!!! I really hate rodents so when I hear or see them I freak. If it wasnt for the fact that I don't vlog for privacy reasons I would show you how shakey I am right now. BLEGH! RODENTS!!!!!
3)Its snowing outside. I hate snow. I really just wished I lived somewhere warm all year round instead of Winterpeg, Manisnowba. Now don't get me wrong I love Winnipeg I just find it extremely depressing in the winter time because it gets so depressingly cold and the jackets make me feel like a Mummy in its sarcoghphagus.
4)I have been looking for a part time job recently. This isn't really just recent news but I just figured that since this is my first time working it was a bit exciting.
5)Molly(My dog) is avoiding me again for some bizzare reason, that as always, I don't know what for.
6)I am applying for university soon so that is exciting. No more high school for me!
7)I have taken up writing again! This is truly good news because I had stopped due to a Quarter life crisis I have been having... But I am back at it.
(My Quater Life crisis explained)
So up until about a month ago I had been saying that I would go into business. I really didn't want to do business but I figured that  writing for a living wasn't really what I wanted either. What I didn't realize is that I had been stressing myself out about getting into a line of work that I REALLY DIDNT WANT TO DO! I figured if I was going to stress out I was going to stress out while doing something I really love to do, which is to write. I don't know where this will take me but I know that it will make me happy. For everyone elses who has gone through this or is going through this just listen to your heart because that is what will make you happy!

I hope you guys enjoyed my update, not that much happens in this life of mine! I also hope that my little confession was helpful. As always leave a comment below for suggestions or just a hello!

Rihanna versus Miley Cyrus: a cage fight of dramatic songs and videos

Okay so to begin, here is a disclaimer: I WILL be bias in this. These opinions are all my own and if not reciprocated I am open to conversation in the comments below, but do know that this is strictly my opinion and not in anyway a bashing of either (or one in particular) of these artists but just of the songs/videos.
Now that we have that out of the way lets get started!

For this weeks blog post I have decided to talk about two very popular artists and their takes on strong emotions through their music and their videos. I will be judging the two song with a point system and a justification. The value for each will be out of 5 and at the end I will add up the score of which song/video I like more.
Our first artist is Miley Cyrus. As we all know Miley Cyrus stunned the world with her performance at the VMA's this year and we would be lying if we didn't admit that this has increased her popularity. Miley's video "Wrecking Ball" has over 300 million views on YouTube.
Our second artist is Rihanna with "What Now" which has just under 2 million views.
Now let the games begin!

The lyrics: Miley) - Like the meaning
                          - Memorable
                          - Relatable
            Rating : 4/5
                Rihanna) - Like the meaning
                              - Memorable
                              - Relatable
             Rating: 4/5

The Video: Miley) - Symbolisim is forced
                           - Acting is okay
                           - lack of clothing
                           - Memomorable in many ways...
             Rating: 1/5
Rihanna) - More clothing but still revealing (more tasteful)
                                 - Not really memorable
                                - Not artificial and is relatable
              Rating: 2.5/5

Emotional response: Miley) - Too busy being distracted by her awkward hammer scene
Rating: 3/5 (and not in a good way
Rihanna: - not much of one
                     Rating: 3/5

Message: Both had very strong messages and I appreciate both of them for how different they are from one another but are still relatable.
                       Rating: 5/5 (for both)

So here are the results after counting the scores...

                           Miley Cyrus                                                     Rihanna
                             (13/20)                                                         (14.5/20) WINNER

I hope that no one hates me for that but I have wanted to talk about the Miley Craze for awhile, so here we are... Yeah so I could say a lot more but I think I will let the numbers speak because I get really passionate about this....
Yeah so as always, leave comments and let's continue the discussion! Love you guys!

The Sweater Weather Tag

Hey guys so I am going to do something a bit different today then what I am used to, so I hope you like it!
So you have probably seen all over YouTube that beauty vloggers are doing the  Sweater Weather Tag which was started by itsmelexi1. To be honest I was not introduced to this tag by her but by Ingrid who also goes by her handle name Missglamourazzi, and I absolutely adore her! I like fashion and make up and I figured why not share that part if me with you guys as you rarely get to that side to me. I have taken a similar format as my fellow blogger Holly Adams. If you are interested in her version please copy this link: http://heyhols.blogspot.ca/2013/10/sweater-weather-tag.html
So here we go! I am so nervous....

QUESTION 1
-Favourite candle scent?
Okay so I really like fresh scents or wood scents so I often lean towards very fall like smells, so my current favourite candle scent is one from Yankee Candle called "Mountain Lodge". The best way to describe it is that it smells like men's aftershave... Which sounds weird but it is so good!!!!

QUESTION 2
-Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?
This one is difficult because I drink tea more often but I really like coffee too as a treat. Hmmm, but I think due to the fact that I drink it moved often I am going to say tea.

QUESTION 3
-Whats the best fall memory you have?
My best fall memory is a small tradition that me and my family have of going on a drive to pick up our Halloween pumpkins and then my dad and I carve increasingly more difficult patterns. I am really fond of these moments.

QUESTION 4
-Which makeup trend do you prefer: winged eye liner or dark lips?
I prefer winged eye liner mostly because dark lips really overwhelms me because of my pale complexion it makes me look extremely vampire like. I also prefer to work more on my eye make up then everything else.
QUESTION 5
-What do you want to be for halloween?
Since Halloween has passed I will tell you what I was. This year I did a group costumes with four of my friends and we all dressed up as Greek goddesses. We weren't any goddesses in particular so I am not really sue who I would be, but just based on the fact that my costume got a little bloody I was Athena... (Yeah, um, I stabbed myself quite a few times trying to get my toga to stay up with the damn safety pins...)

QUESTION 6
-Hats or scarves?
Hats because I like hats. Scarves proceed to strangle me like a boa constrictor. That and my ears get cold...

QUESTION 7
-Most worn sweater?
So my most worn sweater is pumpkin orange and baggy, I bought it from target when I went to Boston and I absolutely LOVE it.

QUESTION 8
-Favourite fall nail polish?
So I like two, both are from Essie. One is a really deep marroon colour with a touch of purple added in and it is called Bahama Mamma. The other one I mentioned in my October favourites and it is a really deep cobalt blue and it is called Aruba Blue.

QUESTION 9
-Skinny jeans or leggings?
Do jeggings count?

QUESTION 10
-Boots or uggs?
Hmmm, boots because there is something about a boot that can tie together an outfit and make you and out.

So that's it for my Sweater Weather Tag! I dare you guys to post your own sweater weather tag or just leave comments below with your responses!

Every Bunny Face Palms Sometimes: My list of my top 5 embarrassing things I have done

Okay so today I was seriously having writers block and after the excitement of Halloween I have been having the post Halloween blues, so I figured today would be a good day to embarrass myself and laugh. So here are my top 5 most embarrassing moments!

Number 5:
On the first day of grade seven we were assigned lockers. My classmates and I walked out into the hallway and proceeded to our assigned locker. I was looking at the numbers on top of the lockers and I went to where I thought my locker was. The lock was already on it so I used the code that they gave me to open it. However, it wouldn't open. So instead of being a normal person and checking the number I tried again. It still wouldn't budge. So what do I do? I beat that locker with my hands and feet and start going at it like the Incredible Hulk. While being enraged by this locker I heard someone clearing their throat behind me... I turned around and it was the most attractive guy in our class... He pointed at the locker and said to me, "Um, that's mine" and proceeded to stare at me awkwardly. I took a step away from the locker and realized yes this is the wrong locker and yes now this good looking guy thinks I am insane, YAY.... I spent the whole rest of the year at the locker beside his thinking what an idiot I looked. You'd think that that would be a lesson to check numbers. The funny thing is, I still have problems with lockers and promptly beat them up on a regular basis... Sorry Tom!

Number 4:
When I was in grade 5 I really liked this guy that was a year older then me. In my elementary school days I was constantly struck with a romantic side. Instead of getting up the courage to confess that I liked him in person I wrote a letter instead. I went to the tiny lockers and shoved my letter into what I thought was his. It wasn't. It was his friend's, who was a total jerk and went around asking everyone who was such an idiot to write a letter these days. I was pretty embarrassed. But it gets worse! I had spelt one word in the letter wrong and only one person in the class noticed the typo so when they pointed it out they went around to everyone in the class to see if how they spelt the word matched up... The girls in the class realized it was me and took on the roles of protectors because the guys were being cruel. One girl however was really adamant on me getting caught. So I fessed up and was promptly ignored. To say I was a bit sad was an understatement. I look back on that now and realize that the guy I was giving it to was not even worth it so I laugh about it now!!!!

Number 3:
When I was in grade 3 I ended up ripping my skort (skirt and shorts combined) right down the centre where you could see my Cinderella panties. I had to cover it up with my dinosaur sweater. Everywhere I walked the attached dinosaur was swinging everywhere. This was one of the first times I had done something and was literally face palming.

Number 2:
When I was six me and my mum went to an exhibition held at the Museum. The Golden Boy who stands on top of the Legistature building in Winnipeg was taken down to be serviced and have his gold leaf replaced. My mum and I went to see this, but what people don't realize is that he his completely NOT covered from the waist down. Now being half British as I am I have grown up with a lot of slang mixed into my everyday vocabulary. When I saw this naked statue of a man my six year old self makes the observation, "Mummy, LOOK AT THE BODGERS ON THAT ONE!" ( Bodgers, it must be said is exactly what you think they are so don't ask). The whole exhibition around us heard but the only one who actually laughed his ass off was the elderly English gentleman beside us who thought that this was hilarious. My mum was mortified and when we got home she told my dad this and to this day he still laughs, because let's be honest dads are always the ones to teach us these new vocabularies.

And Number 1:
When I was 3 or 4 my dad and I went shopping in Marks Work Warehouse (which is basically a Canadian supplier of work clothes). We were at the cashier when "Super Freak" by Rick James came on. (As anyone who lived in the 1990's can attest 80's parents really liked 80's music so it wasn't uncommon for kids to listen to these songs). At the time that this happened I was really good at remembering lyrics so I knew every word line for line to this song, so when this song came on, I SANG that song like it was my own. The girl at the cashier was so shocked that she had to wait until the song was done to glare at my dad who thought this was EXTREMELY funny. To this day whenever I hear that song I laugh and sing at the top of my lungs! (Here is the link to the song: http://youtu.be/QYHxGBH6o4M and here is the link for the lyrics if you are interested: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/r/rick+james/super+freak_20295978.html )

As you can tell these are slightly embarrassing but also kind of funny. I have a lot more but these are the ones that I think get the "Most Embarassing" prize. If you have any stories that you feel comfortable with sharing pleases leave them in the comments below, and we can laugh together. Also if you have anymore ideas for things I should review, try or talk about drop me a line! That's it for today guys! I will see you later!

The Fox: My Happy Song

Okay, so I guess I have to come up with an excuse but apparently I have many so I am going to to tell the truth. I have been doing homework. Please don't shoot me. Now this in itself is quite stressful because since I was away from school for two weeks it has piled up. To say I am stressed out is an understatement.
I had decided that to release the stress, I was going to watch the newest Glee episode, because a) I am a total Gleek and b) it's a mother-daughter bonding show between my mum and I. Boy was I wrong. I spent the whole episode crying my eyes out, which it has to be said does not make stress any better!
To regain some composure in order to take the dog outside I had to find something that makes me happy, so I tried coming up with some ideas. Here is my list:
- Korean Dramas (Specifically, Heirs with Lee Min Ho)
- Watch The Game Of Thrones
- Green tea
- YouTube
- BBC radio ( the Dan and Phil show)
- Instagram cruising
-  and The Fox song (the viral Norwegian video)
Surprising, or unsurprising if you have met me, The Fox song was the only thing that helped! I just find that the song is therapeutic in a very odd and curious way. It is probably easier just to show the video. Click the link to watch the video: http://youtu.be/UQmJseDVjcE
This blog post is short but I honestly don't think I want to type make this was mostly just to tide you over until my next post, which hopefully will be up soon.
So sorry guys, but in need to go watch Heirs or The Game Of Thrones now. If you have any idea of what I should talk about just drop me a line in the comments or on my google+(please on my personal google+ because I can't figure out how to get it on to the blog google+). I also want you guys to respond the following question:
When you feel down or stressed out what do you guys do?

Favourite Song(s) of the Month: G.Dragon's "Crooked", Lana Del Ray's "Young and Beautiful" and Marina and the Diamonds's "Lies"

This month's favourite song post is a multi favourite post. As you can tell I could not make up my mind!
Now it may be the fact that I want to spoil you guys with great music or I am just completely absorbed with the idea that I MUST write about these songs and their respective artists. So...

First off on the list is G-Dragon's "Crooked"!
The reason I like this song is because the lyrics and the video are extremely complimentary. I really connect with this song because it heavily suggests doing one thing but feeling another. Now the message is about G- Dragon trying to get over a girl in his life and seemingly struggling to come to terms with the apparent betrayal of her leaving. I also like this song because you can apply it to anything including life events, not just love. I like the video because it occurs overseas which seems to be becoming more and more popular everywhere in the world. If it's an American artist they go to Japan (Gwen Stefani), if your an artist from the UK you go to the United States (One Direction), and if your a Korean artist you go to England (G-Dragon). An interesting pattern and an ultimately globally aware trend.

Second on the list, "Lies" by Marina and the Diamonds!
"Lies" is the tenth song on Marina's 2012 album "Electra Heart". I love this song because of Marina's soft voice and the fragility of her feelings being portrayed. The song and video compliment each other with their juxtapositions ; the video uses harsh jump cuts whereas the songs lyrics are soft and imploring. The overall appearance of the video is simplistic in the sense that it is edited to look more complicated but only focuses on two or three different scenes: 1) close ups, 2) raining on the picnic and 3) running into the woods. This simplicity shows an elegance and sincerity of her feelings.

And finally, Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful"!
This song literally has me dancing around the house and singing at the top of my lungs. I love it. The only down side is that the video is somewhat boring. It's not boring in the fact that it has little going on but because I am extremely story motivated and I am disappointed if a video doesn't have any sort of story. The other two videos have the video and the lyrics matching or at least telling a story at the me time, however this song just uses its lyrics to get the point across which is a strong point for the song but does not appeal me to the video.

Studying: WHY!!!!

Sorry for not posting a in awhile but I will probably have to move the days I blog onto the weekends. Again I am very sorry.
And here is the reason why. Studying... I have been back for a week now and I am already drowning in crappy homework stress. Now, I understand that there are many different stresses but today I am just bogged down with work so its hard to work on the things I love, which incidentally is my writing and blogging. It is ridiculous how much someone's life changes when you add in more then 90 minutes of extra homework. You don't get much done in a day, to be honest.
It's going to be short today but it will be longer on Saturday.

Back To School Blues: how to survive the oncoming school year in 5 easy steps

It is finally that time of year again. School.... This is my senior year of High school and I am nervous for what that means for the future. Thankfully, I have an idea what the future will be, but it is not all set in stone. Moving on...
Today was ,officially, my first full day back at school and I am already tired. They don't joke around when they say Grade 12 is a completely different environment then Grade 11. I can already tell that it won't be easy. You want to know why? I already have a crap load of homework... All I want to do is too watch YouTube videos and fall asleep but I am going to talk about ways to conquer the "Back To School Jitters"!
Step 1: Be prepared!
The worst thing you can do on your first day of anything is to come without the proper supplies. Whether it be your basics like pens and paper or the more complicated like your vat o' caffeinated beverage to get you through the day, just make sure you are ready before hand for whatever the day throws at you.
Step 2: Don't be afraid to talk to people!
While I know it is nerve racking to not be talked to, but sometimes the only way to have a conversation is to start one. And you are probably thinking, "Well, they could start the conversation too".  That is true, but let's be honest, conversation is conversation. It doesn't really matter who starts it. And their might be very valid reasons why hey don't start conversations. They are  just as shy and just  as scared as you, so by starting conversation you actually start to know people, rather then being alone.
Step 3: You might not like everyone but don't completely shut them out!
This is hard to explain so I will provide a personal example.
A friend of a friend of mine has said some pretty rude things about me in the past. Now as much as I would like to ignore her, I can't, so sometimes you just have to deal. Haters are haters, but know that if you continue to be the better person by it you show the better character for it.
Step 4: Be yourself!
This may sound like clichéd advice but if can't be yourself around your friends from the start you only are hurting yourself because you are now stuck being someone your not. Your friends should hang out with you for who you are, not for how popular you are.
And Step 5: Show up!
This may sound really stupid but one of my best friends last year was a chronic skipper and constantly late for class, just because she didn't want to go. It's not a matter of not even wanting to go, you HAVE to go by law in Canada so it's not even optional. Chronic lateness and tardiness negatively affects your schoolwork as well as your future. An example of this: the same friend's English mark, just due to chronic skipping, was 25% and it took more energy to get the mark up rather then doing it in class.

These are my 5 (straight forward ) tips to surviving school or even just life. If you are just entering High school, graduating or graduated these rules apply to everyone and should not be limited to just High school but also to the rest of your life!

The Power of Kpop: insight from a fan girl

So as you may have gathered I am a bit of a Korean wave fan girl. For those readers who don't know what kpop is I recommend you listen to some. To be honest, I didn't really like kpop until about a year ago. I listened to Super Junior once and I wasn't really into it, because at the time, I was going through a very dark music phase (it was pretty eclectic, what with my Slip Knot love at one time).
However, about a year (approximately) ago, I was reintroduced to kpop through a friend. I really wanted to have something to talk about with her so I listened to the stuff she recommended to me. At first I was torn. In my head I was saying things like " This is good" or "I really love this beat but I wonder what the lyrics are in English". That was really hard for me at first, because I really like song lyrics. I overcame this by really trying to immerse myself into the many bands that Korea produces. As I began listening more and more, words began to stick out and the English subtitles were getting better on more and more videos I started learning a little Korean, so the songs began to make more sense. And ultimately lead for my love for Kpop.
However, from many Western people's points of view, kpop is somewhat of a weird change from what they are used to. Here are some reasons why:
-In North America, boy bands and girl bands are very uncommon. In the early 2000's they were extremely popular but their popularity began to dwindle. However, groups with more then 3 members in Korea are huge and this can sometimes be a bit of culture shock especially to people are not aware of Asian pop culture.
-Many of the costumes and sets are pretty eccentric, which unless you are Lady Gaga, isn't very common in North American music
-Korean is a language that is very unlike English. For English speakers like myself it is very hard to grasp when we first learn Korean that it works in syllabic blocks. It is a consonant followed by a vowel, to form one syllable. To top it off their are about 35 different characters, that are completely different from the 26 used in the English alphabet.

I hope to carry on discussing kpop and more Asian Culture as it is one of my favourite things. I hope for all of you that don't know a lot about kpop that you pursue it and keep an open mind to trying new things. For all of you who like and enjoy kpop you can probably agree that the three reasons above stand true where you are from! Thanks for reading!!!

Ps. This is my favourite band, but I also enjoy others. Please let me know what stuff you want me to review or to talk about for later posts.

Favourite Song of August: "Clarity" by Zedd feat. Foxes

Spoiler Alert: in the second half of the blog

In the past year my taste in music as really expanded. I used to be very exclusive when it came to music, by mostly sticking to my metal or alternative music (which for some reason iTunes classifies as Emo in the genius playlists). Now however I listen to pretty much everything. I first heard today's song on a German radio station and have been hearing everywhere ever since.
The song, "Clarity" by Zedd feat. Foxes, is classified as electronic and I have really been loving the whole genre this summer.
Anton Zavalski is a German-Russian DJ and electronic producer, but is most commonly referred to as Zedd, his stage name. He wrote and produced "Clarity", Along with Matthew Koma, Porter Robinson and Skylar Grey. The vocals are performed by English song writer and singer Louisa Rose Allen, better known as Foxes.
I really like this song because of its techno beats, but also because of the lyrics. Although the verses are incredibly few (two to be exact) they really portray this vibe of forbidden love, almost like a "Romeo and Juliet" situation. The song also refers to themes of tension and relationship strife  of wanting to leave but not being able to stay away.
The video, although very artistic, can be very difficult to interpret being as it starts off in a dessert  then switches to two people in cars. From there, there is a crash and this is where things begin to make sense. The two people involved in the crash are sent to heaven or limbo, which is the dessert. they meet in a cavern on the oherside where they wake,  but then the  girl runs away. The boy runs after her into the dessert. He bends over at some point where he sees blood. The blood is the girls. He continues to run after when he finally catches up to her but she collapses. We can only assume he has hurt her in someway but he still cares for her as he runs after her.
This corresponds well with the lyrics because it portrays a conflict between leaving and staying, and when you do leave you go running back.
I have no real complaints about the video, but I REALLY LOVE THIS SONG!!!

If you haven't already seen the video, or haven't heard the song I suggest you follow the link below. Leave comments below to leave your favourite song of the month, or if you have anything else you want me to review.

Public Transportation: My Interesting Story

Hey guys! So on Thursday of last week when I was supposed to be posting a blog post, I was hanging out with two friends. My best friend S and I rode the bus down to see my friend C. It must be said C lives about an hour and twenty minutes by bus from us. So when you spend so much time on a huge vehicle with a whole bunch of people you are bound to run into some pretty interesting people. On the way their was uneventful for the most part other then a really stoned guy leaning a tad bit close to S. It was on the way back that this story really takes place.
After hanging out with C for the day, S and I rushed to the bus stop because we thought since our bus was already there we thought were going to miss it. When we reached the bus we realized rather quickly that the bus driver had left the bus. However, their was a woman on the bus... A really angry woman...
We weren't really sure what was going on but we could tell that something was up with this woman. The writer in me was somewhat fascinated with the woman on the bus. I attribute that to the fact that the bus wasn't moving yet she walked  around the bus as if she was sailing through a raging tempest. I am not as naive as to think that this was normal behaviour so I turned to S and told her we should step away from the bus until the driver came back.
The woman continued her odd ballet dance of drunken stupor until another bus driver seeing S and my faces, came to see if she was stuck on the bus. I don't recall their entire conversation but this is what I saw:
Bus driver: "Ma'am are you stuck on the bus"
Woman: staggers, looks at Bus Driver confused
Bus driver: repeats previous statement
Woman: shakes head crazily
Bus driver: "I was just making sure you didn't feel as though you were being confined" he laughs and leaves awkwardly.

Thankfully the bus driver who was to drive our bus came back. S and I stepped onto the bus and decided for precautionary measures to sit near the back of the bus. It was 5 minutes into the bus ride when I noticed the woman staring at me. I calmly talked to S trying to ignore the woman's stare. Another minute passed until the woman swaggered through the now full bus towards our seats.
The Woman now in front of us pressed her face so close to my face I almost could feel her breath against my face.
"You are staring at me weirdly" she accused me. This confused me, because I was trying with all my energy to ignore this woman when she was on her side of the bus. Now that she so kindly had literally "gotten all up in my business" I stared at her blankly.
She slurred again, "you were talking about me and I feel your eyes on my soul!" I kind of wanted to laugh but this woman was obviously dead serious so I calmly told her I was not. She argued back with me and swaggered back to her seat. When she slumped into her seat again her head practically nestled  into a very uncomfortable looking middle aged Asian man, just minding his own business. She propped herself back up on the window and started gesturing at me to "go (insert really bad word her) myself". Thankfully 3 stops later she got off and was now someone else's problem. S and I were silent for a bit before we went back to business as usual.
Honestly, I was a bit taken aback. I had done nothing to provoke her, unless looking away and being uncomfortable with her public inebriation was a crime. I look back on this and I think, " hmm, I probably should have been more scared." But if she had hurt S or had gotten any closer to us I would have made a scene, that would have been guaranteed. I am only 5'2 but I am not afraid to protect myself and those who are important to me. Thankfully it didn't get to the point where she was a serious threat.

Anyways that's it, this concludes my crazy bus story. The picture is a random photo found of my city's public transport system, that I found on Advanced google search. ( I am trying to be wary of copyrighting pictures lately) BYE GUYS!!!!!!!!

No wifi? NO WIFI!!!!!!!????? Angry Panda Has Been Unleashed

Sorry guys for not uploading last week but where I was vacationing had weak wifi. And if there is one thing I hate is having weak, intermittent wifi! The reason? Because its there but you can do absolutely jack with it, so it just serves as a constant reminder of your Internet dependence. I would like to say I could have found a Starbucks somewhere with wifi but even that wasn't possible because there is no Starbucks in that town! Which usually would not to bother me if I hadn't been deprived of my mindless surfing of the Internet.... But it did... A lot!!!!!
And this ordeal ( or temporary ordeal as it were) had me thinking; I seriously have a problem. When did I reach the point where pretty much everything I use to entertain myself relies on a strong Internet connection?
I read books, probably a lot more then people think, but my reading habit is expensive and I am not a big fan of public libraries... That  shall be saved for another day. I also enjoy writing with pen and paper but I often reserve that for poetry or ideas that demand to be spewed out. Magazines are fine but even those get expensive after awhile. So what's left to stimulate my mind that dwells on anything and everything? The Internet! But could I get even one hour of mindless surfing to spark anything other then in curable boredom? Nope. And do you know why? Because there was not a strong enough connection... Does this make me angry? YES! Am I highly dependent on the Internet? Yes! What happens if you combine these two factors? ANGRY PANDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why I Love Creative People: A Stumble Upon Accident

So to start of this blog I want to say, initially I had no idea what to do for today's post. I am sorry. However, whilst I was procrastinating and trying to find something, anything, to write today, I went to Stumble Upon. Stumble Upon is a website that allows you to find websites that coincide with your interests. This decision to procrastinate (for once) paid off because now I can share this awesome story with you guys.
Anyways, while I was on Stumble Upon, I landed on Ryan Seacrest's website thing-a-majig and saw this adorable post that he had shared. Seacrest's blog introduced a very viral video and can you guess what it was about? Prom! So being from Canada we don't have prom, we just have graduation parties so I don't really get the whole importance of prom but I get the gist of its importance. Anyways this teenager, Jason Pitts, went into his crush's (Lianna Cohen) third period class and serenaded her with a song. Jason was accompanied by a 5 guy chorus behind him.
This really stands out to me because he chose a medium, music, that would make him stand out from other guys, and that was extremely clever of him! One thing that people don't grasp when it comes to relaying your feelings is that the way you portray them is extremely important. I often ask myself this: what do I have to lose if I tell my crush that I like them? To be honest you don't really lose anything. Sure its a 50/50 chance of getting hurt but its better then remaining unconfident and upset over unreciprocated feelings.
The reason I want to talk about this particular case of prom proposal ( I have seen similar things before) is because this girl is so shocked and happy and probably felt that she didn't stand out to anyone. But this guy made her feel special even if she didn't realize that he liked her until that moment. To be able to embrace the odds and try to overcome the hurdles of doubt we need to step out of our comfort zone and I felt that this was extremely heartwarming and left me wanting that same courage that he had. I can't play guitar and I am certainly not so brave as to interrupt a classroom like that (my teachers are somewhat scary) but it gives me hope that the little things in life are important and that fear is just a side effect of doubt. By overcoming doubt we can conquer situations that make us uncomfortable, and maybe, just maybe, we can reap rewards that we felt were out of grasp!

Below is the link, and I highly recommend that you watch this heartwarming song.

How to Relax: My Usual Go To's

I have been so exhausted lately... It has been so hard to find stuff to write nor have I had any ideas due to exhaustion... Don't be surprised if this sucks because today is really just an update blog and a list of what I want to do!
1st: I freaking need a cafe latte... As in right now! The cafe down the street is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so I am kind of screwed. I think I am going to go check out one I have been wanting to see downtown... This is my pick me up drink that I often reserve as a "I have had a $;t day" drink. That what espresso does for me; it makes me less bi/&hy and makes my day instantly brighter.
2nd: I have been on break but I have been so tired, so now I am trying to get my Korean TV fix. Usually, I watch romantic comedy dramas but I have been big into Variety shows, particularly Dream Team 2 and Mamma Mia. If you are wondering where you can watch variety shows I suggest KBS World channel on YouTube and for free dramas (with ads though) I suggest Drama Fever.
3rd: I also read a lot of Manga. My personal favourites of all time are Skip Beat, Ouran High School Host Club, Taiyou no Ie and D. Gray-Man (I like a lot of shoujo manga, but I also like shounnen!)
4th: and finally depending on the severity of the tiredness I just like to lie in my bed with my music on and just kind of doze off.

I Am in a Book Frenzy! 2 recommendations for summer reading

Hey guys! The weather has been somewhat questionable for my liking (either way to hot and sunny or to cold and raining). As this is the case I have had more then enough time to read books, an act in which I have not been able to do previously due to this retched thing called math (how I hate the word as I hate all math subjects and the number three. The line has been altered from Tybalt's line in the first act of Romeo and Juliet).
It is no secret that I love literature and that I take great pleasure in devouring a good book. So today I have two books that I want to discuss that I have enjoyed. The first is actually one I read in January of last year and you have probably heard of it; it is called "The Fault In Our Stars" by John Green.
The Fault In Our Stars is narrated by a teenage girl named Hazel. Hazel has terminal cancer; Hazel's mom believes that Hazel suffers with depression and asks that Hazel attend a youth group for other cancer patients. At the youth group, Hazel meets charming Augustus Waters. The story shares their bittersweet journey together.
I enjoy this book, A) because it is by John Green, B) part of the book is set in Amsterdam (which is in the Netherlands), C) Hazel is an extremely relatable and D) Augustus is exactly my type ;) I really liked this book!
The second book I wish to discuss is International best seller Gayle Forman's book "Just One Day".
The book follows American teen Allyson who goes on the trip of a lifetime to Europe; and absolutely hates it. After the organized tour ends she leaves with the attractive Dutch 20 year old Willem on an extraordinary day in the city of romance; Paris. After that one day, she finds Willem gone and as a result goes on the long journey to find him and also finds herself along the way.
I enjoyed this book because it was a roller coaster of emotion. One minute you are crying because your heart aches for Allyson, the next you squeal because of Willem. This is the first book I have read of Gayle Forman's but I instantly want to buy the sequel to Just One Day which is called "Just One Year" which focuses on Willem. I ultimately really liked this book and I don't want to give any of the details away.
I hope you enjoy this post and I also hope you add these two books to your summer reading list this year as they are both amazing!

The Challenge of Being a Teenage Writer: a rant

Hi guys! I must have mentioned this to you before but I consider myself a writer. I continuously write and write, but there are issues with being a teenager in this very adult, business oriented, world of writing. It's difficult because you can't, legally, get a paying a job when your a teen. I consider my blog as my pleasure and as well as my business, but mostly for my enjoyment. When I post, I post because I want to, not because it is an obligation.
It's tough. If I do ever want to make money, I have to take my time away from what I love which is writing, unless I use Adsense which I cant yet. Freelance is also an option but one must be an adult which sucks.
I am not to far off from being considered  an adult, yet I am still a teenager, and a person with this title often gets lumped in with the few rare bad apples. I hate that analogy but it does really apply. To all my fellow teenagers, the next time you walk into a store count how many times you get glared at or stalked in a store or mall. Do it. I can guarantee that it will be more then 5.
I really I hate the fact that we are not taken as seriously as adults in this way. I understand that we are not considered "fully developed" and that we lack "maturity", but ask those who doubt; why are we considered immature just because we are young? I know a lot of talented teenage writers who wish that someday we will write a novel and see our name on the spine of a book and who are extremely passionate about what they love. Yet, with the age of ebooks we might not see that. I am, as you can tell, passionate about this and I find it very unjust that teens who want  to write have very limited options when it comes to making money in the writing field as a teen.
Another reason why I don't condone the wrongful prejudice against teenagers in general, is because we have ideas. We are creative. And we are the future. How are all the writers in the world going to pass on their legacy of the written word if, and it is not as if as you think, the written no longer exists in a physical form? I am a huge fan of reading an actual, PHYSICAL, book that you can turn the pages in. That aspect, unfortunately, is changing and I question if its for the better. Yes, I own a tablet and I do read ebooks but I feel as if that option is not the same. If you agree please comment below!
Anyways this ends the rant for now.
Luckily, I have worked on this blog and that allows me to do what I love and to practice my writing in a positive community such as Blogger. I wish that someday I am able to accomplish my dream of my name on a book cover. Until that happens, I am extremely happy to have this blog, and also the knowledge that there are plenty of creative teens like me who struggle and persevere along with me.

P.s. This was completely a tangent. Sorry! (−_−;)

The Plan B of Today

So today I am a bit pissed. Here's why... I had typed out a beautiful post about the origins of teenage nicknames... And then the stupid app that I use to write posts crashed... And I lost my hour of work before even the editing process... And so now I am grumpy...
I wasn't going to post today because I was so freaking mad, but I decided to make this day worthwhile and not leave you guys without a post when I had promised every Monday and Thursday.
So ultimately today I am going to discuss Internet addiction and how to know your a bonfide YouTube junkie.

Okay so here is the 5 best known indicators of internet addiction and how to minimize your computer zombie look and to maximize your productivity.

1. Ignoring parents: this can also be misdiagnosed as "giving sass" or being a "smart a$$". Most commonly it is unintentional because your headphones are on your ears and are at decibels that guarantee temporary deafness and ultimately will lead to ear damage later in life. Anyways, if this is one problem you are plagued with one way to counteract it is too try and read their lips. My recommendation to practicing this skill is to watch a show you have memorized the words to and watch it a couple times without the volume. Find something easy to digest such as a YouTube video because of its relative short length. This technique works about 3 times out of 5. Only recommended when you become a pro at it.

2. Lack of Sleep: this is caused bymindless digging into weird subculture during the wee hours of the morning. This can sometimes be curved by listening to your music, which reduces the urge to pick up your device and watching one last video.

3. Incredible cravings of kimchi ramen: usually occurs in people who watch Asian based YouTube channels or watch food programs. Best recommendation: just purchase the damn ramen because it won't go away anytime soon.

4. Spends most of their time on the Internet: self explanatory. If you fall into the category of an hour and over you are an addict. Which depending on what you view on your subscriptions is fine, only  if you watch semi-decent quality stuff. You are much better off  compared to people who watch other people doing stupid s%@t.

5. You begin to adapt many qualities of the people you watch on YouTube: sometimes it's funny what you pick up like a weird personality but I once started swearing a lot more then what was necessary and it just ended up bad. Reduce the amount of videos that have improper use of the curse language. Don't completely filter everything but don't watch something with it in every sentence without decent context.

Anyways all the above are all opinion pieces. None are scientifically proven (as you can tell) and should be tried at your own risk.
I feel better now. I hope you guys enjoyed and that you continue to support! See you later!

Favourite song of July: Xia Junsu's "Incredible"

Hey everybody! So today is going to be something realitively new. I am going to tell you my favourite song of the month.
I know, with my excessive cultured-ness on the Internet, that favourite tags are popular. I don't really fall within a particular niche market such as beauty or fashion or reviews or anything, so I want to stay consistent with the things I post, which so happens to be reviews and stories of my life. So here below is this weeks little experiment!
To begin with I am a huge fan of the Korean wave (pretty much anything from pop to indie to rock to rap) not only new debuting groups such as B.A.P or EXO, but also with some of the original forerunners such a TVXQ and SuperJunior. The artist above, Xia Junsu, is a soloist singer who is also apart of JYJ a group under Loen Entertainment . JYJ used to be a sub unit of TVXQ who is under SM Entertainment but due to controversy JYJ nullified their contract with SM. For more information please look it up because it is quiet interesting how JYJ has progressed as a group.
Junsu is currently on his world wide Tarantellegra tour which was his first solo album. The album was released 2012. What's interesting is that the song I am going to share with you has just been released today. Incredible features an unknown rapper to me called Quincy, and I can't say I am a huge fan... Anyways, I really like the song as well as the album.
Although I really like the song, I proportionally HATE the video... It is just... Just... Weird. And Junsu seems to be a pretty crazy and creative guy as proven by the see-through hose he plays with in Tarentellegra, but this video features way to many awkward party-ers such as the guy with the floaty and the girl randomly playing on a kids shopping mall toy. I also don't like Quincy's 15 second interlude. I would have preferred, if they were going to feature someone in the North American rap scene, that it be someone that people actually KNOW, because that would better present this song to a  foreign audience as this album is trying to do. As for the dance, it was good, but it didn't have the usual sharp lines and fluidity that I expect from K-pop but I wasn't entirely disappointed so it was overall okay.
So the song, for all my complaints on the video was awesome (except Quincy). It was right in line with my current tastes. It combines an upbeat techno-beach feel and it is very heavily similar to what Canadian top 40 is currently playing, which usually I don't listen to but a lot of different genres are popping up which is completely what I listen to( I like variety you see). I would go as far as to as that the techno beats sound very similar to David Guetta. Junsu's voice as the info box so eloquently phrased it for me says "he tried something new as a vocalist such as neo soul and funky, making Xia's vocal in full bloom to deliver rich fragrance and happiness to listeners" or whatever that means...
Since it came out today, as I am writing this I have been listening to it non stop. If you're interested in Xia Junsu's Incredible please check out the link below!

Ps. Thanks guys and  I will see you on Thursday!
Pps. Today being @ 11:55 on Sunday!

Warm Bodies Begin with Warm Hearts: A review of the book Warm Bodies

I finally have written something that wasn't originally someone else's idea to begin with! Today is a book review that you are most likely aware of because of its being all over the world in theatres at the moment based on the break out novel by Isaac Marion, Warm Bodies.

If you are not aware about this book I suggest you buy it. I am not a huge fan of zombies, mostly because they terrify me to the point where I shake in my boots but I really enjoyed this book.

The book is set in a post-society America where the Dead out number the Living. The Living that  are still left, live in the ruins of sports arenas and avoid the cities because the zombies roam freely throughout the desiccated husk of society. The story follows a zombie named R, who shows an extraordinary consciousness that what zombies do is not particularly pleasant and doesn't like it but has to do it because that is how the Dead survive. R, the compassionate zombie, lives among other zombies in a dilapidated airport and goes into the city with hunting parties to feed.
In order not to give away any important events I shall conclude the synopsis b saying that he meets a girl named Julie, saves her, becomes friends with her, falls in love and etc.

I liked this book because R was a surprisingly bright character who was astute and was constantly aware of his position in society, an outcast in both the zombie world and the Living world. R, to me, doesn't seem all that zombie like which ultimately causes you to wonder, "what if we were in his situation" and that is an incredibly bold question to ask in literature. Despite my fear of zombies I can definitely appreciate the literary allusion to a sophisticated level of empathy through words as well as Isaac Marion's dark and slightly necrophilic but still romantic telling of R's and Julie's story and how their love changes everything.

Overall a good book. However, one note of advice, if (and that's a strong IF) we do end up having a zombie apocalypse I think it best to avoid the zombies unless they are like R, because I don't think zombies will protect you like R, they will probably rip your arm off and eat your brain. Not cool.

If you guys are interested in this book or even the movie I suggest you hit up your local bookstore or look at iTunes and iBooks. If you don't like reading, I believe audiobooks are also available, one site I have heard is good is Audible.com, where upon signing up you can receive one free audio book.

This is the book cover

P.S I was not payed to do this and these are strictly my own opinion. Also I am hoping to review the movie at some point so. Hope that you look forward to it! Also if you have any other books you would wish me to review please drop a line.
